Lazio Italy Travel Articles

Also visit our ROME page

The rest of Lazio is usually overshadowed by Rome but that doesn't mean there isn't much to see in this region in central Italy. In fact, there are many places that are perfect for a daytrip from the Eternal City. The historic town of Viterbo to the north offers a medieval center and thermal springs. Nearby Lake Bracciano is where celebrities Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes got married. Feel like some beach time? Check out the beach resort of Sperlonga or take the ferry to the jetsetting island of Ponza. If you're planning to cruise to Sicily, Sardinia and elsewhere, you'll be going through the Lazio port of Civitavecchia. You can also explore the ruins of Rome's ancient port, Ostia Antica.
