Did you know that one in ten Americans has at least one Italian ancestor? Italian-Americans are the fifth largest ethnic group in the United States. Italian immigrants played a significant role in the history of the United States, some two million Italians, mostly from southern Italy, emigrated to the U.S. between 1900 and 1914. They brought with them the distinct culture, traditions and foods of their home regions in Italy and these influences can be found in Italian restaurants, cultural museums and Italian-American festivals held across the United States.
