Kathy McCabe is the founder, editor and publisher of the subscription
travel newsletter, Dream of Italy, The
Insider's Guide to Undiscovered Italy.
The seven-year-old newsletter was awarded "Best Consumer Subscription
Newsletter 2007" and has been recommended by USA TODAY, National
Geographic Traveler, U.S News & World Report
and BusinessWeek, among others. Through her newsletter and
media appearances, this Italian travel expert has helped thousands of
travelers experience authentic Italy. Must recently she has taken to
giving Italy travel advice via
Twitter and has been named a top
travel Tweeter by several publications.
She commented on the travel and culture aspects of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino for USA TODAY, Peter Greenberg's Travel Today, Travel Hub Radio and ABC NEWS' World News This Morning. McCabe is a regular guest on the How to Tour Italy radio show and recently appeared on The Travel Show with Steve Perillo. McCabe is a speaker and consultant on travel and publishing and specializes in developing travel content for new media. She has spoken at The New York Times Travel Show and this fall she will be speaking at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC and the Mequoda Summit (a publishing conference) in Boston. She has consulted with private clients on launching new travel Web sites, implementing e-mail marketing and using social media such as Twitter. As a travel writer, McCabe has written about everything from taking her dog to luxury hotels to choosing a Caribbean cruise. She currently is a regular contributor to AOL Travel. Her articles have appeared in USA TODAY, Saveur, Washingtonian, Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel, Global Traveler, The Travel Channel Online, Fodor's Travel Publications, The Dallas Morning News, The Baltimore Sun, The Boston Herald and Rudy Maxa's Traveler. She has also written for Ladies' Home Journal and Pages. McCabe began her career in journalism at ABC News where she was part of an Emmy-Award winning investigative team linking money and politics during the 1996 presidential election. She holds a M.A. in non-fiction writing from Johns Hopkins University and a B.S.F.S. in European Studies from Georgetown University. She is a graduate of the Stanford University Publishing Program for Mid-Career Professionals. McCabe, an avid dog lover, has a rescued Wire Fox Terrier named Cooper. |
